Jornada finalizada (Journey complete)!
English: I am finally home! This was a fascinating trip, where I could meet several interesting people, places and above all, get to glide a lot! On average the flights at LEM were five hours long and we were only using the engine for 15 minutes a day, to take off and gain some height while we were getting away from the airport traffic pattern.
André Nardelli was a great companion and gave me several valuable tips on the art of flying gliders, and I was able to confirm the capacity of the Sinus as a real fun machine, functioning just as well as an airplane and a glider.
This was an unforgettable voyage!!!

Quase lah (Close, but no cigar)!
English: Today I started my journey under blue skies, and clouds only started to show up as I approached the "Serra do Mar" mountain range. After flying over Vassouras the cloudbase dropped too much for my taste, and as a result I flew back to Valença, where I landed in a dirt strip. The remaining flight to Rio is only about 30 minutes long! I then found out that the strip belongs to the army, but their reception was excellent.
As a friend of mine from my airfield states, any old car with operational headlights and wind screen wipers is faster than an airplane flying VFR when conditions aren't right!

A volta para Formosa (The flight back to Formosa)
English: Beautiful view of the plateau and of the clouds that showed up on the last day to bid us farewell. The place is magical - enabling us to glide 4-5 hours every day, with lots of outlanding opportunities!
Turismo acidental (Tourism by chance)
English: The nice church of Campo Belo, currently under restoration!
Sinus @ Campo Belo
English: This time I had to make a stop at the south of Minas Gerais (Campo Belo) due to poor weather. Hopefully this will improve soon!
A partida do nosso recordista Admilson (take-off of our new record holder, Admilson)
English: Admilson's take-off in his Ximango, from Egon's airstrip. Last night we celebrated his new world record on the Ximango: 350km!!!

Acabou a brincadeira (the fun is over) - :(
English: Today was the last take-off from LEM. Everyone flew in the direction of Formosa (close to Brasilia) - the start of the flight was weak and we had to use the engine several times - later on we were able to shut it down and fly the Sinus for 240km using only thermals! We landed at Egon's farm and tomorrow I leave for Rio if the metereology helps!

Penultimo dia em LEM (Second to last day at LEM)
Amanha, o grupo ruma junto a Formosa. De lá se dispersará. Começam os planos para 2012.
English: Today was our sixth day at LEM, and just for a change, our hunger for thermals made everyone fly in different directions. The LX (the DG800) flew to the northeast, the Ximango went thermalling at the edge of the plateau and Thomas and I went to the south and afterwards to the east on the BYE (Stemme). The SA (ASH25) experienced a minor technical failure, took-off late and went probing the area known as "Jalapao". The SKA (Sinus) showed during the week its capabilities and performance.
At the end of the day everyone was back to LEM for a pictures and some good chatting! Under the windsock stood our mascot and guardian, overseer of the fine week we experienced at LEM.
Our special thanks go to the Mauricea group for the use of their hangar.
Tomorrow our team flies towards Formosa, where afterwards we disband and start our plans for 2012!
Stemme - Fabio & Thomas
English: Fabio and Thomas getting ready for another flight @ LEM... interesting strobo effect on the propeller!

Obrigado galera!!!
Sinus - momento onde subia 8.2 m/s de media (8.2 m/s on the averager)!
English: Picture taken by André once things got a little more under control and he was able to fetch the camera!
Sinus - Um excelente vôo hoje (a great flight today)!
English: Today it started looking like the day would be much like yesterday, but in the end it turned out to be a lot more reliable - we ended up flying 252.9 km (a 234.6 FAI triangle) in four hours and forty five minutes. Unfortunately since I do not have a noise detector on board, the flight was not validated. Any way, below is the link to the flight and the associated statistics!
An interesting moment occurs at 17:48:45 when we found a powerful thermal over a fire and found 16.8 m/s of lift and over 9 m/s on the averager! This took us from only a couple of thousand feet to about 10 grand in just a few minutes...

Mais um dia no escritorio (just another day at the office)!
English: This Monday a task was set to give the pilots an objective - unfortunately a layer of cirrus clouds and some smoke ended up shutting down the thermals and we had to turn the engine on to fly back to the airfield at LEM, after gliding a little over 120km with the Sinus. According to what other pilots said, this was the weakest day so far.
